Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham and Mid Kent and the Shadow Sports and Olympics Spokesman, today joined double Olympic Gold Medallist Dame Kelly Holmes and Kent County Council leader Paul Carter to launch the 2010 Kent School Games.
The event was launched at Hayesbrook School in Tonbridge, a specialist sports college, and marks the start of a year of inter school sport.
Hugh Robertson said, “I am hugely proud that Kent runs the largest school sport tournament of its type in Europe and I want to see this rolled out across the UK in the run up to London 2012.
It is a fantastic opportunity for children across the county to take part in a huge range of activities in sport, drama and dance and I would encourage every school to get involved.”
