Robertson: Budget did nothing for sport

Hugh explains how sport has, yet again, been disappointed.

Commenting on the how the budget will impact on sport, Shadow Sports Minister, Hugh Robertson said:

'Despite all the spin to the contrary over preceding months, yesterday's budget did absolutely nothing for sport. Indeed, given that it puts further pressure on families, it is likely to have a highly negative effect on the sector as people have less disposable income to spend on sport and recreational activity.

“Furthermore, two and three quarter years after we won the right to host the 2012 Olympics, there are still no plans for the sports legacy that was the key pledge in our bid.

“Once again sport has been left disappointed.”
