The re-emergence of proposals to build a new airport for London in the Thames Estuary, promted Hugh Robertson to say, 'it is a complete red herring'.
Commenting on the re-emergence of proposals to build a new airport for London in the Thames Estuary, Hugh Robertson, MP for Faversham and Mid Kent, one of the neighbouring constituencies, said:
“It is highly improbable that Heathrow will be shut down and a new airport constructed in the Thames Estuary. Apart from the huge sums of money that have been invested in recent years developing Heathrow, there are massive construction, infrastructure and financial problems associated with building a new airport from scratch in the middle of a busy stretch of water.
Particularly given the state of the public finances at present, it is a complete red herring.”
