Hugh Robertson today persuaded The Post Office to refund £20 to a Faversham man.
Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham, has today persuaded The Post Office to refund £20 to a Faversham man given a fake £20 note by the local Post Office. The man, Mr Gordon Melhuish of Ospringe, received the forged bank note when he took out some money at Faversham Post Office and wrote to his MP in anger.
Hugh Robertson took up the case with The Post Office who have now sent Mr Melhuish a cheque for £20. It is unclear whether the note was recycled from one paid in over the counter or whether it should have been detected by a UV lamp.
Hugh Robertson said, ‘Although there is still some doubt over how this forged £20 note got into the system, I am delighted that the Post Office have agreed to refund Mr Melhuish in full as a gesture of good faith’.
