Hugh Robertson helps open new Football facility in Faversham

Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham, helped open a new football storage facility for Faversham Town Junior Football Club on Saturday and speaks of the need to make Faversham a sports hub.

The MP both wrote to, and lobbied in person, the Football Foundation for money to purchase the facility which will be used to store all the equipment necessary to run the Junior football programme.

Hugh Robertson said, “It was fantastic to see over 200 youngsters from the Faversham area playing football at the Abbey School on Saturday and I congratulate Faversham Town football club, the Abbey School and the Town Council who helped bring this about.

However, I want this to be part of a wider drive to improve sports facilities throughout the town. We have our own swimming pool, gym, bowls club, football club and cricket club. The next steps are to improve the tennis facilities, develop the cricket club and bid for a 3G all weather football pitch to make Faversham a really vibrant sports hub”.
