Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham and Mid Kent and Shadow Sports and Olympics Spokesman, has today received a letter from Sir Thomas Legg confirming that his personal expense claims, as an MP, from 2004-2009 are entirely in the clear.
Sir Thomas was appointed by The Prime Minister, with a team from Price Waterhouse Coopers, to audit all MP’s personal expense claims from 2004-2009, following the expenses scandal.
Sir Thomas has confirmed to Hugh Robertson, in a letter, that he intends to report publicly that ‘Mr Robertson has no issues’.
Hugh Robertson said, “Obviously I am delighted, on a personal basis, that I have been found to be completely in the clear - as I hoped and thought would be the case.
However, it is now vital that we bring this matter to a close imposing appropriate sanctions on those that have broken the rules and introducing a new scheme that strikes the correct balance between allowing MP’s to do their job and ensuring transparency and public confidence.”
