Fire at MPs Constituency Office

Although the details are not yet confirmed, last night a fire broke out in the ironmongers under the Faversham and Mid Kent constituency office. Fortunately, the building was empty at the time.

The full extent of the fire is not yet known but there is likely to be extensive fire and smoke damage. This will, almost certainly, render the building unsafe for some considerable time to come.

Hugh Robertson said:
‘This is a sad day for everyone who uses the building. It is too early to assess the full implications but it is likely to have a short term impact on my ability to function as a constituency Member of Parliament.

As soon as we know the full extent of the fire, we will work as hard as necessary to get a full service to constituents up and running. In the meantime, could I ask everyone only to contact us if it is a genuine emergency’.
