Hugh Robertson has today been appointed Shadow Olympics Minister in addition to his job as Shadow Sports Minister. The announcement comes as the London Olympics Bill completes the committee stage of its passage through the House of Commons.
Hugh Robertson said: “I have been closely involved with the political element of both the bid and the resulting Act of Parliament. It is clear to me that hosting the 2012 Olympic Games opens up a huge number of potential opportunities for people in this country both inside and well outside the field of sport."
“I am absolutely delighted by my new post and am committed to working with the government, the Mayor, the London Organising Committee and the British Olympic Association to deliver the best possible games in London in 2012."
