NO to the Substation on the Marshes

HUGH ROBERTSON REGISTERS FORMAL OBJECTION TO NEW SUBSTATION PROPOSAL

Hugh Robertson has today written to Swale Borough Council to register his formal objection to London Array’s proposal for a new electricity substation in the Cleve Marshes. MPs are not allowed to get involved in individual planning applications but can register objections on the same basis as anyone else over infrastructure applications.

Hugh said: “I have thought about this application long and hard as my every instinct is to support renewable energy. However, this application will involve the construction of a 45 foot high new electrical substation right in the middle of the Faversham Marshes. The site has also been selected because of the scarcity of housing, a principle which, if followed elsewhere, will lead to the loss of our few remaining open spaces.

“I urge Swale Borough Council to take a stand and reject this application.”
