Hugh Robertson MP welcomes the new report that highlights the key areas of concern within the Olympics.
Responding to David Ross’ report on Olympic preparedness presented to the Mayor Boris Johnson today, Shadow Minister for Culture Media and Sport, Hugh Robertson commented:
“This authoritative, fair and balanced report is exactly what The Conservative Party has been demanding for months and is in marked contrast to the ludicrously positive spin put on everything by the Government. It highlights where progress has been made but also draws attention to areas of concern, notably the athletes village and security and the legacy, all of which pose a considerable threat to the budget.
“The security issue is one of particular concern both in terms of individual safety and the fact that it tends to be the largest driver of cost overruns. It is totally negligent that three years after the bid was won, and followed by the 7/7 bombings, the Government does not have a fully costed security plan.”
