DAVINGTON VISIT MP AT WESTMINSTER

A party of 20 school children from Davington Primary School, led by Head teacher Mike Williamson, today visited local MP Hugh Robertson at the House of Commons. The trip was the return leg of a visit the MP made to the school last year.

During the visit, the schoolchildren had a tour of the House of Lords, the Robing Rooms and Westminster Hall. They were not able to visit the House of Commons as Parliament was sitting.

Afterwards they had the opportunity to meet Hugh Robertson. Questions included the structure of the Parliamentary Year, the working day of an MP and the amount of travelling involved.

Hugh said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome Davington to Parliament and fulfil a promise made when I visited the school.

“I want to ensure that as many children as possible from Faversham and Mid Kent get the opportunity to visit Westminster and to learn about our system of government.

“I hope that they enjoyed the day.
