The provision of sport at school, is vital in today's fight against childhood obesity, says Hugh Robertson.
Hugh highlighted the example of many schools in Kent, where sport is an integral part of the school curriculum.
Hugh made the remarks as he hosted an event to celebrate the Association for Physical Education’s first Birthday.
“Those Kent schools have few, if any obese children. Likewise, children from rural areas, who pursue an outdoor lifestyle, are less likely to be obese than children from urban areas” he added.
He told his audience, “The key thing is to ensure that all children have access to the proper levels of sport and PE at school.”
