Hugh supports London 2012

HUGH ROBERTSON ACCOMPANIES LONDON 2012 TEAM TO SINGAPORE

Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham and Mid Kent and the Shadow Sports Minister, will fly to Singapore with the London 2012 Team on Sunday 3 July for the decision on the host city for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Hugh is going for three reasons:-

1. It is vital for the success of any bid to show cross party support.

2. If the bid is successful and the Conservatives win the next General Election (expected 2009-10), Hugh will be the Minister responsible for the Olympic Games.

3. It is an excellent opportunity to promote Kent’s credentials.

Hugh is attending at the specific request of the London 2012 team and is the only Conservative going.

He said: “I have been working enormously hard on the Olympic bid ever since the election. The games represent a unique opportunity to boost sport, regenerate the East End of London and bring an exciting economic opportunity to our capital city and, indeed, the whole country.

“I am looking forward to doing everything possible to bring the games to London.”
