Olympics spokespeople have come together to urge people to celebrate Green Britain Day and 'do something green for the team'.
An annual event, Green Britain Day is a focal point for people to take action towards a more sustainable lifestyle. The landmark initiative from EDF Energy aims to inspire the nation to work together and lower Great Britain’s carbon footprint by the time the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games arrive in London in 2012.
Hugh said, “London 2012 will be a celebration of this country’s sporting excellence. Green Britain Day, which is being launched by EDF Energy in association with London 2012, is a timely reminder that we all need to reduce our carbon emissions and do our bit to help reduce global warming.”
Hugh Robertson MP, along with others, urged people across the country to ‘do something green for the team’ on Green Britain Day and join Team Green Britain (teamgreenbritain.org), a community aimed at harnessing the power of collective action. Developed in association with the Eden Project, it suggests new actions to take towards living greener lives.
