Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham, reacted positively to the news that a Senior Judge had delayed Garry Mann's extradition to Portugal over alleged offences at the 2004 European Football Tournament.
Hugh said, “Every time Garry Mann’s case has come before a British Court, the judge has cast considerable doubt over both the integrity of the process and the judgement itself. Britain has some of the most stringent football hooligan legislation in place anywhere in the world but it is abundantly clear that Garry Mann would not have been committed if this had taken place in his own home country.
Give that six years have now passed, and the legislation under which he was convicted was temporary, the time has surely come for the Portuguese authorities to drop this case.”
