Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham, has expressed his delight at the news that Selling Parish Council will receive a grant for £50,000 from Kent County Council to subsidise broadband in the village.
The news follows a public meeting, hosted by the MP in the village hall, in April to discuss the issue and find a solution to poor broadband reception in the area.
Following the meeting, Kent County Council agreed to look at an application for funding from the village. They have subsequently agreed to allocate £50,000 to enable Selling Parish Council to select an internet supplier who can improve broadband reception. The supplier will be selected by The Parish Council. This should lead to radically improved broadband speeds throughout the village.
Hugh said, “I am absolutely delighted that Kent County Council have allocated the generous sum of £50,000 to help improve broadband reception in the area. It should lead to a radically improved service for all users in the parish area.”
