Hugh Robertson condemns 'total shambles' at NHS Trust

It transpires that the three non executive directors who resigned from the Maidstone NHS Trust were not even in place at the time of the C Diff outbreak.

Hugh Robertson, the MP for Mid Kent, has condemned the total shambles at Maidstone NHS Trust following revelations that the three non executive directors, whose resignations in the wake of the C Diff outbreak were trumpeted by the Trust, were not even in place at the time of the outbreak.

The revelations were contained in Parliamentary answers given to the Mid Kent MP. Copies of the answers are attached to this release.

Hugh Robertson said:
“At the public meeting at the Maidstone Leisure Centre, the Trust made a positive virtue of the fact that three non executive directors had tendered their resignations following the Healthcare Commission Report into the C Diff outbreak. It now looks as if they were used as scapegoats as it is clear that none were actually in post when the outbreaks actually occurred which leaves nobody yet properly accountable.

It is about time that the Trust stopped spinning and concentrated instead on getting new local management in place that puts patient care at the top of their agenda.”
