Hugh Robertson to attend Maidstone regimental march past and attacks NUT decision on army in schools.

Hugh Robertson MP, will attend the regimental home coming of 36 Engineer Regiment in Maidstone and attacks the NUT on their decision to bar the army from schools.

Hugh Robertson, the MP for Faversham and Mid Kent and former soldier who saw active service in Northern Ireland, The Gulf War and Iraq, is to attend tomorrow’s regimental home coming for 36 Engineer Regiment in Maidstone.

In support of the armed forces Hugh has attacked the recent decision by the NUT to try and bar the army from schools.

Hugh said, “I know from my own military experience how important it is for soldiers on active service to know that the nation is behind them. I hope that everyone in Maidstone will turn out and pay tribute to the superb job done by our own Royal Engineer regiment.

It makes it doubly sad that the NUT have used this week to try and bar soldiers from entering schools. In an era when increasingly few people understand The Services, it is vital that soldiers are allowed to tell young people about the important job they carry out on our behalf. This is not about glorifying war, which is not a phrase that anyone who knew anything about the subject would ever use, it is about education – and that is exactly what schools are supposed to do”.
