Hollingbourne wins out

HUGH ROBERTSON WELCOMES WITHDRAWAL OF GREEN WASTE COMPOSTING APPLICATION AT HOLLINGBOURNE

Hugh Robertson has today welcomed the decision to withdraw the green waste composting planning application at Greenway Court Road, Hollingbourne. Hugh Robertson spoke against the application at a public meeting at Hollingbourne Parish Hall in January.

Hugh said: “I am absolutely delighted that the application for a green waste plant at Hollingbourne has been withdrawn.

“It was an unsuitable use of environmentally valuable land and would have caused considerable pollution and local distress.

“There is no greater challenge currently facing Kent than the preservation of our countryside. We are, after all, the Garden of England rather than a giant London suburb.

“This sends out an important signal that inappropriate development will be resisted by local people.”
